Nine

Today's challenge, given it is the ninth day of NaPoWriMo, is to write a nine-line poem. I will attempt to write a Spensarian stanza named after Edmund Spenser who wrote the epic The Faerie Queene in this particular style. My poem is inspired by how my great grandparents met. *Takes a deep breath...

The meet-cute on sea

 And on day nine she went on glis'ning sea;
She boarded the ship for lands faraway,
Fam'ly to visit and dear friends to see;
Young man at her side so she wouldn't stray.
But the young man did not for her have eyes,
Gentleman was he, and she far too young;
For another he gave too many sighs
And to her did he have many songs sung,
Soon after disembarking, the wedding bells rung.
